PLEASE FORGIVE THE REPOST, reshot the picture with better lighting and a tripod. Much truer to original.

10 x 14 color pencil

This is pretty much finished but I will probably be going back in and touch up a couple things after it sits for a few days. I hate back grounds! I wish I knew how to do something simple. The dunes and sky were quick and easy, but the rocks! Stupid rocks! I hate rocks!

Still learning to do shadows. MEH!

Had fun doing him and this won't be my last oryx or antelope.

****Critique is always welcome. It is one of my greatest learning tools.****

Great work :aww: I love the contrasting colors and the attention to detail on his design. You did really good on the background too, I like how you textured the rocks and cast his shadow onto them. Your anthro works are just amazing, and this one is no exception :D

Thank you! I am always trying new things in my drawings and learning as I go. I learned quite a bit from this piece, do's and don'ts. :)

His weapons remind me of the Zulu, but his tattoos are reminiscent of another culture I can't recall. One I'm not sure is even African. Good blend of traits!

Most definitely Zulu weapons,( They were picked up or patterned after the weapons found in the villages of the now extinct,(along with most of humanity) Zulu nation. )The tribal tats and what little other accoutrements he carries were just made up on the fly. While drawing this piece, I was also writing a short story to go with it though not specifically involving this particular character, just the world he lives in and how it came to be. s/f
The first draft is about 75%.
